Learn by doing

I work as a trainer at a sailing academy in Marina Punat on Krk. You spend the days at the helm, not in a classroom, and mistakes are part of the plan. You do not need a licence to take part.

What I teach

Harbour training

Berthing alongside and in a marina box, mooring buoys, anchoring and line handling, in changing wind.

Sailing training

Trim, tacking and gybing, reefing and getting a person back on board after a fall.

Night training

Two night passages: recognising lights, navigating by chart, watches and approaching a harbour in the dark.

The week at a glance

  1. Tue, evening Meet at the base, get to know the boat and the safety gear.
  2. Wed, 9–17 Berthing alongside, lines and fenders, leaving the berth.
  3. Thu, 9–17 Into the box and the marina, mooring buoys, turning in tight spaces.
  4. Fri, 9–17 Anchoring, man overboard, sail handling and trim.
  5. Sat Time to say goodbye and leave the boat.
